From baby to toddler

One of the things that has amazed me over the past 12 months is how quickly a helpless little baby changes into a toddler with his own personality. If I compare pictures of Scott from just a year ago with how he looks now I sometimes wonder how he could change so quickly.

For that reason we put together a picture frame with one picture of Scott per month. Now suddenly the transformation of baby to toddler becomes more clear. In some months he hardly changed, but in others he is suddenly a lot more ‘mature’ (click on the picture to see a bigger version). We will keep on taking monthly pictures (well, actually almost daily), so in the end we have a nice series to see his development over the years.

  1. This is a cool idea. Have to make a memo for whenever I will have kids 🙂

Great pictures – our son Andy is 8 yrs old now. We took so many pictures his first year. And I post
yearly pictures on my webpage (but it’s blocked now on Googlepages).

What are you doing about languages?
We waited til Andy was 2 to start
Chinese but then he got nothing but
Chinese from his Mom and English from me. He’s bilingual now with no
confusion but learning written Chinese is, of course, much more difficult.

  3. @andy: We speak 3 languages with him: Chinese, English and Dutch. My wife speaks Chinese, I speak Dutch and when I wife and I are together we normally speak English (and occasionally Chinese). So far this works well.

Most of the day he only hears Chinese because his nanny is Chinese, so he understands that language best. He reacts to many things in Chinese already, but not if we say it in English or Dutch.

By the way, what’s your webpage (I’ll use a proxy to open)?
